

Retired Sergeant First Class Waldo N. Arthur, 73 years of age, went on to be with his Heavenly Father on January 2, 2023. He was born on February 7, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia. He enlisted in the Army on May 3, 1968 and completed basic training. He went to Fort Polk, LA for Light Weapons Training. He went to Vietnam for one year until stationed to Ft. Benning, GA, where he worked as a Weapon Instructor. He then returned to Vietnam as Infantry Squad Leader. After being wounded in Vietnam, he continued his military career working as Food Service Manager and Dining Facility Manager. He retired from the US Army in May 1990 with having earned many achievements, awards, to include a Purple Heart. He was always so very proud to be a Veteran and proudly displayed that while wearing his ball caps.
He was stationed in Germany from 1984 until 1987, where he met his second wife, Ingrid. He was then stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, where he married Ingrid on March 2, 1988. He remained married to Ingrid until she passed away on March 7, 2014.
After retiring from the Military, he continued working in Food Service at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and the NCO Academy.
In 1996, he focused his career on rebuilding and remodeling, carpentry, flooring, painting, plumbing, removing and replacing windows and doors, restoring bathrooms and kitchens, and set and leveled Mobile Homes. Although, he no longer needed to work, he continued to work until he was no longer able due to medical reasons.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, woodworking, and fishing. He loved cooking for family and friends. He made his own BBQ Sauce and everyone always loved his potato salad.
Waldo never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He also loved to bake cookies, cakes, and pies to share with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life, to include full military honors, for Waldo will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:00pm at Crawford and Bowers Funeral Home 1615 South Fort Hood Rd, Killeen, Texas.
Waldo leaves behind many family members and friends, who will greatly miss and forever love.
