

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
He was born December 2, 1953, in DeKalb, Mississippi to William and Louise Shields.
Walter attended M&I Ministerial Institute High School and College. He worked in Logistics for Pactiv Manufacturing. Walter married Elizabeth Shields and had two children.
Walter had a passion for music, cooking, gardening, singing, playing the keyboard, and bass guitar. He especially loved games, listening to music, recording videos and music.
Walter will always be remembered for his kind heart, willingness to help, and his wonderfully funny sense of humor.
He was preceded by his parents, sister, Betty Shields, and two brothers, William Shields Jr. and John Shields.
Left to cherish Walter’s memory is his brothers, Leon Shields and Giles Cayson, sisters, Loria Griffin, Renee Moore, Lawanda Shields and Cassandra Shields, his daughter, Yalunka Shields, his son, Walter Shields, Jr., grandchildren; Kyler Shields, Taylor Condiff, Jaden Shields and Leah Shields, a host of aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews; Tawanda Beard, Shekinah Nash, Yalonda Shields, Shontay Shields, and Jenny Cayson, Mark Nash Jr., Markis Nash, Adonis Griffin and Cedric Griffin.
