

Mr. Hammons served in the Army in military intelligence and retired after 23 years of service as a Master Seargent in 1977.
He then went on to a second career at Sears and retired from Sears.
Bill will always be remembered for his love of Johnny Cash, The Man in Black, and for the beautiful red roses he grew in his garden. He has a large, beautiful family that loves him very much and he will be missed.
Bill was preceded by his wife, TaeSuk Hammons, his parents, his brother, Marion Hammons and his sister, Wylma Gericke and numerous other family members.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Bernadette Hammons-Cantrell, Christopher and Becky Hammons, Kathleen Marie Smith and Carolyn Jean Anderson; fourteen grandchildren; Eli Cantrell, Rachel Hodge, Christopher Hammons, Nicholas and Melody Hammons, Brandon Hammons, Joshua and Lindsay Hammons, Tristin Hammons, Faith Hammons, Jason and Candace Becker, Khia Bowers, and Chelsea Smith, eighteen great grandchildren; Kendrick Blumenthal, Kaitlyn Blumenthal, Lea Hammons, Alex Hammons, Harper Jones, Caroline Hammons, Ramsey Hammons, Greyson Becker, Emery Becker, Landen Smith, Carson Bowers, Avery Smith, Kylee Smith, Maddie Smith, Brooklyn Becker, Kohen Becker, Braydin Davis, and Bailey Majors.
Visitation will be from 10 am to noon on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S. Fort Hood St., Killeen, Texas 76542. Burial will be in the Killeen City Cemetery, 2408 E Rancier Ave, Killeen, Texas 76543 at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
