

Woodrow Randolph “Butch” Carter, 79, previously of Killeen, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in Garland, Texas. He was born November 12, 1944 in Fordyce, Arkansas to Woodrow Wilson Brown and Sallie Lou Cates, but lovingly raised by Sallie and Curtis Carnell Carter. Butch married and devoted his life to his love, Jane Ann Minor Carter, on August 14, 1965. They were together for 55 years, until Ann’s passing on July 6, 2020. Butch was known for his mechanical ability, to fix almost anything. For most of his life, he worked as a Toyota mechanic but was also the one to call when the water heater or air conditioner needed work as well. Friends remember his witty dry humor and his love for teaching others.
Butch leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Shana and Laura Carter, sisters, Debbie Northam, Shirley Moore and Brother-in-law Mark Hinds. He is also survived by nephews and nieces: Lee Barnett, Tabitha Barnett Jay, Shelley Doyle, Tim Moore and Billy Yarnell. Butch also leaves behind his cousins and friends, Jim, Linda, John and Jared Foster. He will also be missed by his cat, Trac aka Monster.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11 am in the Killeen City Cemetery.
