Doyle Dean Meyer, Jr. went home to Jesus on September 13, 2023. He passed after having a heart attack at his place of work while doing what he did best, helping people. Dean was born on April 26, 1965 in Oakland, CA to parents Doyle Dean Meyer, Sr. and Mary Shelander.
Dean was a kind and gentle soul, that had the uncanny ability of turning every person he met into a friend. He grew up in San Jose, CA and Houston, TX with his sisters and brothers. He started working in the apartment industry in 1980s and moved to Atlanta, GA. His job moved him to many places including Nashville, Tampa, and Baltimore then back to Houston. He never stopped striving for more and hopped to be back in Atlanta one day, close to his daughters.
Dean loved many things but his number one passions, besides his family, were Jesus and music. He wanted to be a country music star and had the talent to do so. Though he went through many struggles, his Joy and song came from God.
He is survived by his daughters, Melody Grace and Mary Lauren, and her husband David Beeco; grandson Elijah and granddaughter Esther; his siblings, Johnny, David, and Theresa; and many, many friends. Forever in our hearts. Smile.
Psalm 103: 1-5
"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."
A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 21, 2023 at Lakewood Church (3700 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX).
