

Elmer was born February 14, 1938 in Leetsdale, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Duke University with a PhD in Chemistry in 1964 and Geneva College with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1960. He married Patricia Anne Shepard on August 31, 1963. He spent a 32-year career at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in both Louisville, Kentucky and Macon, Georgia and enjoyed hiking in the mountains and outdoor picnics. To Elmer, his family came first. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Elmer is survived by his wife Patricia, and three children; Steve Litzinger of Houston; David Litzinger and his wife, Karen of San Diego; and John Litzinger and his wife, Kathryn of Friendswood. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Michael, Sean, Andrew, and Nicole and three siblings; David and his wife Mary of Newport News, VA, Debbie Dunn, and Karen Litzinger of Pittsburgh, PA. He was predeceased by his brother Gene of Pittsburgh, PA.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to special caregiver, Mary Arnold as well as Jilly Bulgar, who supported Pat and him at the time of passing to a new heavenly place.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Kingwood Funeral Home. The family would like to ask that everyone stay after the service for food and beverages to celebrate Elmer’s life with them.
