Evelyn Augustine Woelfel was born in Shiner, Texas on August 8th, 1934. Being raised on a farm with her family, she developed the rich qualities of responsibility, diligence, contentment and excellence that fortified her character throughout her life.
She was married to Marcus Matusek for 28 years, bearing two daughters and one baby boy whose life earthside was cut very short. She is survived by her two daughters, two sons-in-law, three grandchildren and one great grandbaby on the way.
After the passing of her first husband, Evelyn met Robert (Bob) Woelfel at the Solitaires Church Social Group and they were married on May 1st, 1982. Their loving union has been separated only by her passing.
She is also survived by her two step-sons and one step-daughter, their spouses, 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Her life was filled with adventures; whether skydiving from a plane at 88 years old, spending three months traversing Alaska in a travel trailer, or building a cattle ranch from raw land for over twenty years alongside her husband, her zest for life continues to be an inspiration to all who knew her!
Her hands were never idle, her lips spoke kindness, her smile was regal and her laugh was infectious. She enjoyed hosting huge family gatherings at their ranch with food and fun, community and laughter for hours on end. She was a loving and devoted wife to Bob every day of their 42 year marriage. Her days were also filled with sewing, cooking, gardening and embroidery. She loved pink roses, beautiful hats, her dog Sugar and all of her family.
Evelyn led a life full of beauty, grace, elegance, hospitality and joy! She is loved and remembered by numerous family and friends from Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church where she and Bob attended, as well as the Catholic Daughters Church Organization. She is irreplaceable in our lives and hearts and is already greatly missed!
