Gregory Trent Wright Sr.

Gregory was born on August 22, 1978, in Brownwood, Texas, to Martha D. Wright and Watson C. Wright Jr. He was a proud graduate of North Shore High School, Class of 1996. He continued his education at North Harris Kingwood College, where he earned his Associate’s Degree in 2007, and later received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2010.

Gregory lived a life full of energy, laughter, and purpose. Known as the life of the party, he had a natural ability to bring joy to any room he entered. His humor, charisma, and genuine spirit made him unforgettable to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

A dedicated educator, Gregory was deeply passionate about shaping young lives. He taught at various schools throughout the Houston area after earning multiple teaching certifications in Physical Education, Reading & Writing, and Special Education. His commitment to his students went far beyond the classroom; he mentored, encouraged, and inspired. He also coached several local basketball teams, pouring his heart into developing not just athletes, but confident young men.

Gregory was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, initiated in Spring 2015. He lived out the fraternity’s values through service and leadership, including founding the Young Men of Integrity program at several schools where he worked, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

Above all, Gregory was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. He married the love of his life, Francine G. Wright, in 2007, and together they built a beautiful life centered on love and family. In September 2010, they welcomed their twin sons, Edwin Watson Wright and Gregory Trent Wright Jr., who were his pride and greatest joy.

Gregory loved music, sports, and cars, but nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. Whether he was laughing, teaching, coaching, or simply being present, he created memories that will live on forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Francine G. Wright; his sons, Edwin Watson Wright and Gregory Trent Wright Jr.; his mother, Martha D. Wright; his father, Watson C. Wright Jr.; his brothers, Charles D. Wright and John Bohannon; and a host of extended family, friends, students, and colleagues whose lives he touched deeply.

Gregory’s legacy of love, laughter, leadership, and service will continue to live on in all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life - Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on April 11, 2026, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 N, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
