Janet Rose Nicholson, 90, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on November 18, 2023. She was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church and Kingwood Country Club. After graduating from Marquette High School, she worked in the secretarial pool at Shell Oil, where she met her husband of 56 years, John Nicholson. Together, they shared a life focused on family and faith. They lived in many places across the country and traveled the world. Janet enjoyed cooking, golfing and playing bridge. She is survived by her daughters: Kathryn and husband Michael Rinehold, Mary and husband Herbert Shriver, and Laura and husband William Hanna; son, John and wife Sandra Nicholson; grandson, Luke Hanna; sister, Ellen and husband John Schlecht. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, John Nicholson; sister, Mary Brooks; and brother, Bill Bergfeld. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Holy Family Chapel at St. Martha Catholic Church (4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365) with interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Jan’s name to Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
