Born on February 25, 1937, in Albany, New York, Joyce was raised in a large and loving family. She was one of seven siblings, including Bill Sekellick, Stephen Sekellick, Suzanne Slauer, and was preceded in death by her brothers Ted Sekellick and Dan Sekellick, and her sister Dorothy Sekellick.
Joyce married the love of her life, Harry Peter Gould, on March 29, 1959. Together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and family until Harry’s passing in 2008. In the late 1960s, they moved to the Houston area, eventually settling in Kingwood in 1975, where Joyce would reside for the rest of her life.
She is lovingly survived by her two sons: Christopher (Chris) Henry Gould of Keller, Texas, his wife Audra, and their daughters, Taylor and Courtney; and Michael (Mike) Edwin Gould of Kirkland, Washington, his wife Cheryl, and their twin sons, Alexander and Christopher. Joyce’s grandchildren were among her greatest joys, and she loved them deeply.
A gifted sculptor, Joyce worked in many mediums including clay and bronze, but her true passion was marble. She traveled multiple times to Pietrasanta, Italy, where she carved marble from the same region once used by Michelangelo—an experience that brought her immense fulfillment and pride.
Joyce was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, where her strong faith shaped her life and guided her actions. She was known for her generous heart, her unwavering kindness, and her deep compassion for others. She gave freely of herself and was always ready to help those in need.
She was also known for her honesty and spirited personality—Joyce spoke her mind and was not shy about offering her opinion, but always from a place of love. She never liked to sit still, and even in her final months, as illness slowed her body, her spirit remained determined and strong.
Joyce fought bravely through many health challenges, including numerous hospitalizations following a heart attack in September 2025. Through it all, she demonstrated resilience, courage, and grace.
She cherished her home on the lake in Kingwood, where she enjoyed the beauty of the water and the peaceful views from her deck—a place that reflected her appreciation for both nature and life’s quiet moments.
Joyce Anne Gould will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, boundless love, and extraordinary generosity. Her life was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
