We were deeply saddened to learn of Maria's passing.  We have fond memories of our families participating in activities at Foster Elementary, scouts, and band at KMS.  Maria was a wonderful volunteer at both schools.  Although we hadn't been in touch much over the past several years, I'll always remember Maria's insight, steadfastness with warmth and caring, her smiling eyes and contagious laugh.  To all of Maria's family, our sincere condolences, and you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My sincere condolences to the Castillo family.  As a member of AWS, I was privileged to have known Maria and seen how her natural warmth lit up the room and our lives.  It is with heartfelt sadness that I send my sympathy to the family and with true compassion; my thoughts and prayers are with you now.

I was so sorry to hear of Maria's passing.  I have many fond memmories of Maria, Bea and the Castillo family while they lived here in Trailwood.   Our deepst sympathy to the Castillo family.

It's a rare soul who has the ability to make you feel you're a beloved friend on first meeting. Maria had that capacity, along with many other wonderful traits - most noted in other comments. Our condolences to her numerous friends and family in all those parts of the world where she left her indomitable mark.

I have lovely memories of AWS book club meetings with Maria; she arrived in England just shortly after I did.  It was with profound sadness that I learned today of her passing.  She touched so many of us with her warmth, generosity and gentle nature.  Her radiant smile could light up the world!  She will be dearly missed.

On behalf of the 450+ members of the American Women of Surrey, in England, I would like to express our sincere sadness of the news of Maria's passing. Maria joined our club in 2005 and was an active member until 2011. She loved attending our English Experience group along with our monthly General Meetings and other club functions. She was a beloved member and always had the biggest and warmest smile where ever she went. Maria knew had to light up a room and brought great joy to everyone who met her. We are all blessed and lucky to have had her touch our lives. Sending all of our love and condolences to her family and friends, both here in England and in Texas. We shared many activities through AWS in England...French, Art Appreciation, Book Club.  I have so many fond memories of Maria.  The one overarching adjective that describes her best is gracious.  She always was marked by kindness and courtesy and characterized by charm and generosity of spirit.  She will be missed!
