Well, I'll start off by saying that I'm glad you're finally at peace. I know you were hurting the last few days, everyone told me so. I remember ten years ago when my other grandfather passed away, he was as stubborn about it as you were. And I remember a few years after that, when my cousin Cheryl passed away, and I remember how much it affected you and everyone else in our family. And I remember when my uncles Ralph and Paul and Stanley passed away. I remember when your father passed away just a year or so ago. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to speak with you while you were at home in your last couple of days, we were supposed to talk just a few hours after my mother called to tell me you passed away.
Some of my earliest memories are of you, I remember the house you had when I was born. I remember watching Power Rangers with Jackie and playing games with Joshua. I remember sneakily watching South Park because I wasn't allowed to yet. I remember always coming to see you every Christmas Eve, I remember the scavenger hunts we used to do at your house. I remember opening one present early with all my cousins. I remember Keisha and Shasta, the old dogs you had when I was young. I remember spreading their ashes with you. I'll always remember all of it so long as I live on this earth. I'll always remember you.
I managed to get this far without crying, but it looks like my streak is coming to an end. I'm not religious, I don't pray and I don't know where you and all my late loved ones have gone. But I'm glad you're with your father now, wherever you are. I always wished you could meet my other grandfather, Wilmont Flood. Maybe you will now.

I will always remember our talks and the many words of wisdom you shared with me. I hope to make you proud, and will be thinking about you every day. I couldn't have asked for a better grandfather. You taught me about the hard work it takes to take care of one's family, and to this day I have never met a harder worker than you. I'll miss you forever and I'll love you always. Rest in peace grandpa.

Hi Dad. I had written a message a while back and for some reason, it never posted. Jackie said that happened to another person too. Anyways, i figured i would wait till after the service to write to you. The service was absolutely beautiful. I believe it was everything you had wanted. I got there just as it was starting and was the 1st person to go up to talk about you. I spoke of how truly amazing it was to have you as a dad. How much you cared for and provided for us kids, and how you've always been there and loved me unconditionally. I read a little something from Shaun too. I thanked Jackie for everything she has done for you. She will always have a special place in my heart. 

It was so hard towards the end. I couldnt stand hearing you in so much pain. It broke my heart. At times i would put the phone down so you wouldnt hear me cry. You've always been a fighter, and that was proven till the very end.  

Thank you for always loving me and being the bestest ever father, grandfather to my kids and great-grandfather to my grandson.

Although i'm so happy that you can finally rest in peace, there are no words to describe how much you are going to be truly missed. There will be no days passed that i dont think of you.

You will be greatly missed. I'm so glad I meet you and Jackie. It always brightened my day to see you both at the restaurant, you loved your biscuit and gravy. Jackie, my prayers and love are sent to you and your family.  I was never able to  meet Mel, but the wonderful pictures that are listed here speak volumes about him and his life. I can tell that he was a man that loved life and adventure! And I can also tell how very much he loved you, his children and grandchildren.  How truly blessed you all were to have such a great man in your lives!

I'm so proud to be your daughter. You were the first man I ever loved and you have always been my strongest protector. I am so grateful for the time I spent with you and I'm picturing you chasing the chickens and picking potatoes right now....I love you so much and not one day will go by without me thinking of you. One last thing, I will always keep 1/4 tank in my gas tank!!!!
