Nicholas "Nick" Brown, born July 21, 1983, in Olathe, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2025, at the age of 41. Nick resided in Kingwood, Texas with his wife and children, his beloved dog, Penny, and his recently adopted cat, Winston.
Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa Brown; his cherished daughter, Abigail Brown; and his stepchildren, Marcus, Aiden, Ethan, and Ava Delzell. He is also survived by his parents, Mike and Anita Brown; his brother, Michael Brown; nieces, Michaela and Kinzlee Brown; and a large extended family who loved him dearly.
Nick graduated from Louisburg High School in 2002 and pursued his adventurous spirit by attending Commercial Dive School in Camden, New Jersey, in 2004. As a commercial and saturation diver, Nick thrived on the freedom and thrill of exploring places most people could only dream of. His stories from his diving days reflected his courage and a relentless sense of curiosity and adventure.
After the birth of his daughter Abigail, Nick chose to leave the commercial diving industry to focus on family life. He began working at the Port of Houston, where his dedication and hard work led him to membership in the ILA Local 28 Union. Nick held the union in high regard, grateful for the sense of camaraderie and the care they extended to him and his family. He planned to remain with the union until his retirement.
Nick was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and a passion for firearms, which he appreciated as both tools and art. His happiest moments were spent immersed in nature– whether on a hunting trip, a family vacation, or exploring the great outdoors. Nick sought out the beauty of distant shores, often diving beneath them as he and his wife, Melissa, were both PADI Advanced Scuba Divers with Nitrox Certifications. Together, they made cherished memories on both land and sea.
Anyone who met Nick could testify to his kindheartedness, genuine nature, and authentic personality, which left a positive impression on all who crossed his path. Nick’s life reflected his spirit of adventure and his deep love for his family. His laughter, stories, and loyalty to those he held dear will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation for Nicholas will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to share memories and honor his legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Abigail Brown’s Education & Well-Being Fund. https://gofund.me/8c543301
