I met Rory in September of 1988 when we began our Border Patrol careers together as part of Class 226 section 7.  We served together in Yuma until he joined the Customs Service.  His driving drove me nuts (couldn't hold a set speed to save his soul) but I truly enjoyed working with him.  I continue to pray for you Haydee and the girls.  I know that you will be grieving for years.  May God hold you in his arms and remind you of how richly blessed you were to have Rory in your life.  I count myself blessed to have known him. We are blessed to have had Rory as a friend and shared time with him.  We will miss him greatly. 
Last time we talked, he told me what he was doing and I could tell how proud he was of helping people and making this a better world. That is the kind of person he was.

Con tu partida haz dejado un vacio profundo, eras un hombre desprendido siempre dispuesto a ayudar, responsable y comprometido con cada una de las cosas que hacias, excelente trabajador, responsable con tu familia, divertido, graciooso, disfrutabas al maximo cada cosa que hacias. siempre veias el lado positivo y comico de las cosas que a veces podrian ser complicada, con tu sonrrisa nos iluminabas. Words cannot describe how much of a great person my dad was and how much he'll be missed. He was the best dad I could ask for and was always there for me, even if it was watching me run or just helping me with homework. Even through my hardest of times when I felt sick, and was most scared of what would happen next, he was always there and knew the right things to say to me to make me feel better and safe.  I'll always cherish those moments with him and never forget them. And as time goes by and memories are made I'll always remember my dad and how proud he'll be of me with everything I'll accomplish in my life, even if it's the smallest thing.  I can't tell you how blessed I am to have had a father like mine. He will always be my greatest blessing. My dad made me feel so loved every day of my life and I am so thankful for the countless wonderful memories that he and I shared. My daddy has always been so kind, self-less, and open-hearted and I am so lucky to have been loved by him. He was a fighter until the end and I could not be more proud to be his daughter. Not a day will go by that I won't wish that he were here with me. I love you forever.

Rory was my soul mate, my partner in life, and was the man that I fell in love 35 years ago.  You always are going to be with me in my mind and in my heart.  I will miss you like crazy (your voice, your smile, your jokes, your presence….).  I will always remember you as the loving, caring, encouraging, positive and kind husband and father that you were.

Haydee, You and your girls are in my thoughts and prayers. I am very sorry for your loss of your loving husband and father, Rory. He will me missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. He always had a smile and a kind word whenever I saw him. If you need anything at all please know I am here for you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rory in 1997 when I joined a Task Force he was part of. He had strong moral characteristics; ethical, hard worker, nice personality - someone to look up to.

I knew Rory as a young prosecutor in Yuma, and continued our friendship after I became a judge.  Rory was a true friend.  He was lighthearted, always ready to laugh, and constantly wore a mischievous smile.  I know he loved his wife and his daughters immensely; they meant everything to him.  I will never forget the time we were supposed to go to Mexico City together on a case; unfortunately, he was able to go but my office couldn't afford to send me.  He told me he would get me a gift from Mexico City.  He did; a U.S. Customs key chain.  I think he grabbed it out of a bowl, because I saw several other cutoms agents with the same key chain!  For your family Rory, I leave these words of comfort: "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go and prepare a place for you?  And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you maybe also."  John 14:1-3.  Rest in peace with Jesus Rory.   Andy Gould
