Ross will dearly be missed, he had a way of sharing his experiences as if you were there.   He once said, "I talk to the Big Man upstairs you know".  I have no doubt. Gowing up, my dad was my hero.  He taught me to strong, independent, stubborn, how to shoot guns, and to stand up for what I believed in.  This was exactly the way he was.  Therefore, that is exactly how I wanted to be, just like him.  In my eyes he was invincible… made of steel.  We used to watch “Walker, Texas Ranger” every weekend, and I always thought my dad was just as tough and cool as Walker was.  So of course, I wanted to be a Texas Ranger until I was probably 12, so I could be like my dad.  He was also a very proud and a very stubborn man all the way up to his last breath.  When he got cancer, he wanted to be strong and did not want any help.  He put up a good fight against cancer.  He was not going down easy.  He fought long and hard and did not give up.  He definitely left this world with pride and dignity.  I know he was proud of the strong, confident woman I became because of him.  I hope I can instill the same values in my children that he has instilled in me.
	Dad was a hard-working man who loved his Family and friends.  He made an honest living and would give you the shirt off his back.  He was a loving father and grandfather.  Every weekend when I would go to his house as a child, he would turn into a child himself.  He would pick me up from my house and we would sing song after song the whole way back to his house, and then do the same thing when he would take me back home.  He did anything I wanted to do.  He loved everyone and everyone loved him.  He made friends no matter where he went.  He has never met a stranger.  He was a lovable person with a huge heart and many will miss him.  When he left this world to go home to our Lord, he had truly fought his hardest and was exhausted.  He went in peace, and he deserved to finally be with our Lord Jesus Christ and for his pain and suffering to be over.  I will miss the lullaby’s he sang to me while playing his guitar. Of course, my first lullaby was “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash.  I will never be able to hear another Johnny Cash song without seeing my dad sitting at my bedside playing his guitar.  He was the best father a girl could ask for.  He was committed, loving, and gentle.  He called me every single day of my life, even if it was just to say, “I love you.”  I will miss him every single day, and not a day will go by where I do not think of him.  I know he would not want us to be sad about his passing, but to be happy about the life he led and the legacy he left behind.  He is now in a better place, and I know we will see him again one day. Until then, I will let him live on in my heart and hold tight to the memories we shared.

Thank for allowing me to see so much of Mr. Ross's life through these pictures! I've enjoyed looking at each one! I'm so proud of you for taking such wonderful care of your dad and showing such strength and maturity.  Your dad was always praising your care and love. (I know he was proud of you too!) Heart to Heart Hospice

We will all miss Mr. Ross.  He came by to see us every day in the office and we loved to laugh and talk to him.  He was a great man and we loved him dearly.

In reflecting on the loss of Ross to so many that loved him, I am reminded of 1 Cor 15:55. "Oh Death, where is your sting?". Ross suffers not, there was no sting of death for him in Christ Jesus. He is gloriously given a new body incorruptible. Hallelujah! 

Yet, in remembering my own father's death, there is a sting. A sting so painful that even in the writing of these words, many years later, tears fill my eyes. Oh, how I loved him. 

I'm comforted knowing that there is a time of mourning. God has chosen for us to walk this out knowing that he will send The Comforter. Let us all remember the end of that section of scripture "be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord". 

Ross was loved as we are. For our time left here on earth, let us love each other through our hurts.

Ross, a kind, generous man. He was definitely a proud father of Sarah and at her wedding, he stood tall and with a smile that lit up his face. He was quiet, but when he wanted to make a point, his voice spoke with intensity of purpose. Never did I witness him making judgmental comments and always wanted to be helpful.  He is at peace.  Our Loving Father felt his suffering and called him home.  Pray for us, Ross, we miss you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Smith family and friends.  Ross always had a story to tell.  Miss that old  Johnny Cash.

Ross was such a character!  He made a point to come by Enterprise on a regular basis to give us updates on his health, and visit with all his friends here.  We're going to miss those visits!  Our deepest sympathy to the family, especially his daughter that he talked about so much.
