Sharon LuAnn Brokaw (Brittain) was born on October 6, 1954 in Houston, Texas. She went home to meet her Savior on January 4, 2026 after a long illness. Survivors include one brother, two sisters, several nieces and nephews, and her sons, Joshua and Justin Brokaw, who were the joys of her life. Sharon’s early years were greatly influenced by her mother, Sarah, with whom she enjoyed a close relationship until Sarah’s death. Sharon’s career as an educator brought her great joy and purpose. Many hours were spent preparing engaging lessons to capture the attention of her students and enable their learning. She absolutely loved working with the elementary children and always had an amusing or endearing anecdote to share from her days spent in the classroom. Throughout the years, hundreds of students benefited from Sharon’s dedication and service. Those who knew Sharon will remember her cheering on her Astros or breaking out in a random song. She never tired of baseball or music and they continued to bring her smiles and joy her whole life. Quick wit, kindness, generosity, and tenderness of spirit were characteristics
that marked Sharon’s life. The delightful mix of these qualities made her a unique person and a joy to know. During her last years, many nurses and doctors received handwritten notes of thanks from Sharon. Being outwardly focused, she put her own needs aside and thought of others. Many times she would greet friends with a beautifully wrapped gift for no special occasion. She made others feel valued, and she genuinely loved people. One of her remarkable gifts was her ability to talk to absolutely anyone. Never meeting a stranger, she quickly made connections with others while waiting in line at the grocery or ordering a meal at a restaurant. Before parting ways, Sharon would know their life story. Sharon will be remembered not only for loving others, but by her steadfast belief in Jesus. Being a part of a local church was of great
importance to her. Sharon spent many years as a young mom at Church in the City in Houston and was involved with several ministries there as well as hosting small groups in her home. In 2019, she began attending Lake Houston Church of the Nazarene (One Church). During her time here, she was blessed with many friends whom she cherished and loved dearly. Although Sharon endured immense physical challenges during the final years of her life, her faith did not waver, and she met those difficulties bravely. Sharon knew her eternal home was waiting and she turned her
heart and soul toward Jesus. She is now at peace and rejoicing in God’s presence
