Vicky was born July 16, 1941 in Praha, Texas to Joe and Sophie Vana. Vicky enjoyed her early years living on a farm before moving to Houston as a teenager, where she graduated from Reagan High School in 1959. Vicky was a long-time resident of and raised her family in the Humble area. She was a homemaker and stay at home mother for several years, until she returned to school in her late forties and graduated from North Harris Community College in 1993 with a degree in Nursing. She practiced as a Registered Nurse for more than 20 years, mainly in long-term care facilities. Vicky enjoyed sewing, doing jigsaw and word puzzles, cooking large holiday meals, spoiling her grandkids, and spending time with her family.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Zofie, and daughters Vicky Ann Greer and Janice Lynn McWhorter. She leaves behind her daughters, Carolyn Rollo and husband Charlie of Santa Fe, TX; Natalie Reed and husband Brandon of Kingwood, TX; son-in-law, John of Humble, TX; and grandchildren, Victor, Micah, Sophie, Cecelia, Deacon, Levi, and Charlotte.
Vicky was a loving mother and grandmother and dedicated nurse. She took great joy in caring for others, and she will be dearly missed. Vicky’s family would like to give special thanks to Leondra, who provided her with a safe, comfortable home at the end of her life, as well as Rosie and Nancy, the entire staff at Humble Dialysis, and the staff of the ICU and IMU at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital for the care they provided.
