Brig was born May 17, 1952, in Salt Lake City, UT to Walter Blood and Anna Mae Beall Le Sueur. He attended public schools in UT, MN, and GA. He attended Brigham Young University, BYU-I and completed the BYU Pathways Program with emphasis in Genealogical Studies.
On January 4, 1974, his marriage to childhood sweetheart, Karen Jeanne Oliphant, was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Brig’s work experience began with the Southland Corporation in UT, where he managed several stores. From 1982-89, he and Karen were independent wholesale distributors of Tupperware in Buffalo, NY and Cheyenne, WY. Exploring other opportunities, Brig returned to retail management with Corral West Ranchwear, during which time he enjoyed many years of service with Rotary International and the Boy Scouts of America. He went on to manage sites for Westgate Pharmacy and even worked on the French language line for Melaleuca.
Brig will be remembered for his sense of humor. Inherited from his father and passed on to his children, humor played an important role in his enjoyment of life. Suffering the effects of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease beginning at age 13, he never took himself too seriously and was quick to see the brighter side of situations.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a full-time proselytizing mission to France from 1971-73. He served in various church callings throughout his life, culminating in his lifelong dream of serving a mission with his eternal companion, Karen, when they were blessed to be called back to France to serve in the Paris Temple. He also enjoyed golf, tennis, and any activities that involved his children. Brig especially enjoyed family get-togethers, often lighting the big pine “Christmas tree” in the front yard of their home in Idaho Falls whenever family came to visit. It was always Christmas for him to be with family.
Brig’s passion in life was Family History. A fire started with the birth of his first grandchild, kindled with the discovery of his mother’s ancestry, and fed throughout his life by many small successes and great experiences. This interest led to the pursuit of a college degree begun 35 years earlier, just 2 semesters shy of completing, and his lifelong study on his family line.
Brig is preceded in death by his daughter Emma Jeanne Cunningham. Survivors include his eternal companion, Karen J Le Sueur of Houston, TX; five sons: Rehn Keane (Heather) of Minneapolis, MN, Ethan Sharp (Lindsay) of Houston, TX, Jared Brig (Anna-Lisa) of Houston, TX, Lincoln Scott (Melissa) of Layton, UT, Larkin Joshua (Allyson) of Houston, TX; son-in-law Eric Flint (Erika) Cunningham of San Carlos, CA; 22 grandchildren and soon-to-be great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on January 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. Brig has requested that in lieu of flowers, please see that your families attend church, get a good education, follow the prophets, and concentrate on those things that matter most.
