Alfredo DaSilva

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at the age of 85 on February 28, 2017. Alfredo was born on February 10, 1932 in Horta, Faial, Azores and immigrated to Canada in the early sixties with his family. He worked for many years at Steed & Evans as the Construction Superintendent. Alfredo was a past president of the Kitchener Portuguese Club and a member of the Kitchener Knights of Columbus Council 1504. Predeceased by his cherished wife of 62 years Maria Helena Freitas Diogo da Silva (2014). Alfredo da Silva is the beloved father of Lisette da Silva, Helena da Silva, Grace da Silva (Michael), Elda da Silva-Strome (Jim) and Dean da Silva. He leaves precious memories with his grandchildren Alexander (Trish), Sascha (Sara), Cooper, Jessie, Vera and Sean. Devoted Brother to Maria do Carmo Batista (Manuel, deceased), Carlos Manuel Pereira (Teresa, deceased), Olga Bosley (Bruce), Fernando Pereira (Cathy). Alfredo is predeceased by his parents Alfredo Pereira and Maria do Carmo da Silva Pereira; his son Aldo; Brother, Manuel Pereira and his sister Maria São-Jose Apolinario (Manuel, deceased). Family and friends will be received at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener on Sunday from 6pm - 9 pm. (Knights of Columbus service at 6:30pm followed by vigil prayers at 8:45pm) Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 305 Laurentian Drive, Kitchener on Monday at 10:00 am with Father Larry Parent as celebrant.
