

Beloved wife of the late Alois Retterath. She was also predeceased by sister Christa (Hiller) Pointke.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother Paul Hiller (Irmgard).
Anneliese was the dear aunt of Klaus Hiller (Heika), Ute Hiller (Christoph Wluka), Judith Yarber (Chris), Bernadette Scott (Charlie), Maria Trantham, Richard Pointke, Renee Schiffler (Ernie), Dorothee Retterath (Ric Hewson), Christina Cooper, Gabrielle Richards (Greg), Christopher Retterath (Janice), Hans Retterath (Andrea Orviss), Michael Retterath (Tiffany), Albert and beloved family in Bos, Germany.
Anneliese was born on April 19th,1926 in Bochum, Germany, the first child of Theodore and Anna Hiller.
She learned to crochet at age 5 and she created many beautiful knitted and crocheted pieces over her lifetime.
She and Alois married in December of 1952 and immigrated to Canada in 1954. They moved to Toronto with $20 in their pockets. The couple both worked hard to save money for their first house in Mimico. She managed a health food store for 10 years in Mississauga while they lived in Streetsville. Anneliese moved to Kitchener in 1984 and lived there until her passing.
Anneliese enjoyed traveling to visit family in Germany and beaches in sunny climes.
She moved into the condos in The Village of Winston Park in 2007. She volunteered doing lot of activities in The Villages and was a key member of the knitting club.
Anneliese’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m., where the funeral liturgy will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m., with Father Aleks Mazur of Blessed Sacrament Parish officiating.
Interment will take place the following day at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mississauga.
