

Charles was born on November 21, 1937, in Copenhagen, Ontario, Canada to Vera and Tom Hertner. After graduating high-school, Chuck began his career at the Bank of Nova Scotia as an assistant bank Manager. He later moved to Kitchener, where he worked as a scheduler at BF Goodrich Tire Company and Epton Industries for 28 years. Later he embarked on a new career in real estate, working with Royal Le Page Crown Realty until his retirement at the age of 71.
Chuck had a deep love for playing golf, but above all he cherished spending time with his family.
He was a proud and loving husband, a devoted father and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn Hertner, his sons; Kelly Hertner, Kevin Hertner and David Nunnikhoven, his daughters; Annette Hyman, Catherine Hoare and Jannette Nunnikhoven. He was also a grandfather to thirteen, and great-grandfather to five.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Ira Hertner, and his brothers Jerry Hertner, Jim Hertner and Ron Hertner. Charles is survived by his sisters Betty Crawford and Mary Lankosz.
A visitation will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street, South, Kitchener, Ontario on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1 to 3pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm.
