Colin is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Gisele (Babin) and their daughters Terry and Heather (Dan) and grandson Thomas.
Born in England, Colin immigrated to Canada at the age of 5 with his family settling in Ayr ON. Colin worked at the Walter Fedy Partnership where he met Gisele through her sister, and they built their family in Kitchener ON. A devoted family man, Colin made efforts to be home each night even if it meant a day trip to Tweed and back for a site visit.
Colin was a very handy person who could build or fix anything. An important skill given his love of “toys.” From muscle cars as a young man to boats and RVs and everything that goes with them in later years. Always willing to help others out and encouraging his daughters to get their hands dirty and learn.
Throughout Colin’s life, there was usually a dog at his side. Many of his childhood stories featured his beloved dog “Boots.”
Colin and Gisele shared a passion for travelling. Early in their relationship, they camped through Ontario with a boat in tow. In time, the tent was traded in for a boat making it possible for them to explore the Great Lakes and rivers of northern Ontario. In retirement, Colin and Gisele took to travelling by RV. Winter months were spent in Florida with a month taken to return to Canada where they would explore various places in the U.S. Warmer months could find them exploring Eastern Canada. While other trips took them to the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal, and Alaska, exploring Canada and being on or close to water was a constant theme.
Colin will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy would be appreciated to your local food bank.
