It is with great sorrow that we would like to announce that Ed Lawrence, (aka Fast Eddie) passed away at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, on Monday March 20, 2023, at the age of 74. Ed will be sorely missed by his family and especially his wife of 55 years, and caregiver, Linda (née Tripp).
Ed was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba in 1948 to Allen and Irene (née Sansom). The second of four children he shared the house with his three siblings Linda, Murray, and Patsy (1997). During his youth he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. He left Eriksdale in 1966 to join the Air Force where he met his wife, Linda.
Linda and Ed were married on May 10, 1968, and settled in Edmonton to raise their two children Laura (Marks) and Brad. Ed enjoyed a career as a fireman at the Edmonton International Airport. In September 1979 the couple moved to Ontario and after a short period Ed gained employment at the GM Truck Plant in Oshawa. Ed retired from GM in 2011.
Due to Ed’s medical conditions Ed and Linda moved to Kitchener in 2021 to be closer to family and to access Waterloo Region’s extensive medical community. While in Kitchener Ed enjoyed celebrating holidays/events, sharing meals, and playing cards with his Grandson’s Devon (Marks) and Sean (Marks).
Ed enjoyed the outdoors and spent many days fishing, snowmobiling, and hunting. For years he was accompanied on outdoor adventures by his trusty and much-loved beagle Toby (aka Tobinski). He will be sorely missed by all the members of the Hunt Camp near Bancroft.
Cremation has taken place and a private time of remembrance has been held by the family.
Arrangements entrusted to Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, Kitchener, (519-743-8900). Online condolences at www.westmountfuneralchapel.com
