Elsie Joan Taylor

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Elsie J. Taylor on May 6, 2025 at the age of 88. Elsie died peacefully at home in Waterloo with her loving family by her side. Elsie is survived by children Mark, Bryan (Denise), Carol (Claude), Laurna (Bob), Marty (Sandy) and grandchildren Nina, Annie, Natalie, Katrina, Lawrie and Vincent.

Elsie had a life long passion for learning. After raising her children, Elsie returned to school and earned a BSc from Concordia University in 1982, a MSc in Health Science from the University of Waterloo in 1985, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Toronto in 1996. An avid nature lover, Elsie enjoyed exploring Canada’s National Parks, birding, hiking gardening, and sharing her love of the outdoors with family and friends.

Elsie lived her life with passion and care for the wellbeing of those around her. We love you Mum/Gma and will carry you with us in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Grove at the Laurel Creek Conservation Area, her favourite place.
