

George passed peacefully on Wednesday September 28, 2016, after a wonderful and happy 90 years. He was born in Midland on February 10, 1926, to Violet (nee Butcher) and Dalton Rumney. George is survived by his brothers Phil and Jack and sister Connie, stepson Dan Anderson and wife Lisa Hummel, grandson Matthew Anderson and honorary grandchildren Abbey and Julia Lipskie.
Predeceased by his wife Ruth (Billie) Rumney (nee Shiry) in 2002 after 34 years of marriage and his later wife Maureen Rumney (nee Soehner) in 2012.
George spent his childhood and working life on the family farm in Victoria Square, Ontario. George had a long, happy and healthy life. He was active and independent right to the end. He was a great hockey and baseball player in his youth. Sports played an integral role in his life. George was an outstanding curler, playing in the Tankard and Brier. He was also an avid horse racing enthusiast.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of George’s life will occur on Thursday October 6, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 54 Benton Street, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Mary’s General Hospital Foundation.
