

She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Donald, who predeceased her in 2000.
Hermeta’s legacy is carried on by her children: Michael Duhaney (Rhonda Targett), Andrew Duhaney, Zisca (Cleveland) Findlay, Enoch (Verona) Edwards, Donna Edwards (Andre), Jacqueline (Kingsley) Morrison, and Michelle (Emile, deceased 2022) McLean. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her 18 grandchildren and 17.5 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy throughout her life.
Hermeta is also fondly remembered by her brother, Vincent Smiley, and her sister, Rosetta Smiley. She held a special place in her heart for her cousin, Joyce Wander, whom she considered a sister, as the two grew up together. In addition to her immediate family, Hermeta is remembered by extended relatives, her church community and a wide circle of friends and who were touched by her warmth, kindness, and wisdom.
Predeceased by six siblings, Hermeta’s life was one marked by love, strength, and resilience.
She was a true matriarch who built a legacy of family, faith, and unwavering support for those around her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Family will receive guests on Sunday, January 11, 2025, at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, for visitation from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, January 12, in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am with visitation 1hr prior. Burial to follow at Williamsburg Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evangelical Church of God.
