(1923-2017)
After a full life, Kay passed away in the early hours of September 20th. Kay was a lifelong resident of Waterloo before moving to Heritage River Retirement Residence in Elora last year. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack, (John Walter Dumart) in 1972.
Kay was the cherished mother to three sons: Peter (Jill Dumart), David (Sandy Dumart) and Woodrow (Kim Hodgson.) Loving Grandma Kay to Andrew (Jenna), Craig (Hailey), Jeffrey (Erin), Matthew, Jackson and Paige and Erin (Adam) and Jaclyn (Corey). Kay took delight in spending time with the latest addition to her family, great-grandson Brayden Dumart. Kay was predeceased by her brother, John Reisz and is survived by her loving sister, Margaret Sutton of Kitchener. Special aunt to Linda and Barb of Shakespeare.
Kay and Jack enjoyed a busy social life with friends and neighbours. She enjoyed her walks with her neighbours and especially those through the countryside to Conestogo with her friend, Signa Beliek.
Throughout her life Kay developed many strong friendships, whether it was through playing bridge at the “404”, working at John Forsyth Shirts, K-W Hospital and Forbes Motors or volunteering at Pineheaven Nursing Home. She remained a faithful member of St. Michael RC Church, Waterloo throughout her life.
Kay loved food, fashion and flowers. She was an excellent cook. Her home was always a welcoming place for a “quick visit”, a bowl of soup or some fresh baking. If you were really lucky, she had just made Twists. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private family Mass at St Michaels will take place. Kay will be laid to rest beside her husband at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends and family are invited to a casual Celebration of Life for Kay on Sunday, September 24, between 12 to 4 pm at Peter and Jill’s home. The family would like to thank Dr. Morgan Kwiatkoski and the nursing staff at Groves Memorial Hospital, as well as the staff at Heritage River Retirement Residence for their care of Mom over the last few months.
Memorial donations in memory of Kay can be made to the Grove Hospital Foundation in Fergus, Ontario, to support the construction of the new hospital. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.westmountfuneralchapel.com
