Louis Andrew Veenstra

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandy Veenstra, known affectionately as "Polish" and sometimes even "Jill." His children, Andy (Shelley), Cindy, Mike (Lori), Sharlene (Mike), and Sarah (Matt), will forever cherish his memory. He also embraced the role of stepfather to Kristy (Derek) Blackstock, Mandy (Jack) Tucker, Pat (Brad) Tucker, and Emily Green.

Louis' playful spirit extended to his family. He lovingly nicknamed his mother-in-law, Irene Fronchak, "Sophia," a reference to her resemblance to the character from The Golden Girls. This lightheartedness was a hallmark of his personality. His quick wit and one-liners, always delivered with a twinkle in his eye, will be deeply missed.

His nine grandchildren will more than miss his "don't hold back" boating skills that landed more than a few in the water after tubing adventures on the lake. His three great grandchildren, luckily, always had a much calmer boating experience.

Predeceased by his brother John Veenstra and parents Andrew and Wilma Veenstra.

Louis was a driving force in the construction industry building in many areas of southern Ontario and a proud member of the Home Builders' Association. Carpentry was a passion since he was in his teen years. His tenacity didn't stop at homebuilding, a fellow teammate of OldTimers baseball and later learning to skate, at the age of 40, Louis joined OldTimers hockey, meeting lifetime friends over a cold Stella following a game. But his true love in life was his family. An answer for every question that was posed and a solution for every problem that was encountered.

Family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener, for visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home the following day at 11am. Burial at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre.
