Lucy Avnel Avey Mulligan

Born October 22, 1942 in Brantford. Passed away peacefully July 10, 2016 at Innisfree House, Kitchener, in her 74th year after a brief, courageous battle with adenocarcinoma. Cherished love of Bob for 52 years. Precious mom of Brent Mulligan (Dana) of Calgary and Amber McCorkindale (Chris) of Waterloo. Treasured grandma to Avery, Lexie, and Regan McCorkindale. Lucy will be remembered by her brother Martin Avey (Eileen) of Brantford, sister Carole Ingold (Terry) of Burlington, sister-in-law Sherry Watkinson (Bill) of Carleton Place, niece of Lois Mulligan of Brantford, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Lucy had retired as a very respected pension administrator from Manulife Financial. She was a very strong and determined person. She fought through a brain tumor in 2011, but in 2016 cancer was swift and relentless. She will truly be missed and forever loved. Lucy’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 1:00 – 1:45 pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Kellie McComb of First United Church officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment at a later date in Farringdon Cemetery, Brantford.
