So many memories come back to me when I think of Marybeth. We grew up together in Hampstead our families went to the same church then she came to our school. we shared a special relationship were I was her helper in class because she was deaf and the teachers needed someone to be there to make sure she understood the lesons. We were friends I saw her frustrations happiness and sadness it was not always easy for her. I am so proud that I was able to help her and she was able to move on to wonderful things in her life to find many friends and love in her life. I will always remember her welcoming home. Her mother's wonderful cooking, and am saddened by her passing. My condolences to her family and close friends.

My condolence to Lois & Howard McKendry loss MaryBeth Hunter. Shocked learning she is gone last July 3, 2012. Remember I was roommate with her in Islington, Ontario within several months in 1985, Always remember what laugh, joke, and fun trip around in Toronto with MaryBeth. Marybeth was a special friend, eventhough we did not maintain contact each other after Gallaudet graduation.  She and I had the same classes during our Gallaudet years...we both had fun together with full of laughters.  My prayers and thoughts to her partner, Chris and her family.

My deepest sympathies and condolences.  Mary Beth was a very special woman - I have many fond memories of times she and I spent laughing, chatting and getting into trouble during our time together at OLC.  I am sorry that we lost contact over the years but I thought of her often.  Blessings on your journey through the hills and valleys ahead.

Marybeth was the first person I met at the ladies college- she made me feel special and from that day on we were the best of  friends. A couple of years later she honored me by being my maid of honour. We remained friends for a long time but then lost contact. I remember her parents and sisters. I have just learned of Marybeth's passing. She and I were friends during Gallaudet times and she was so much fun to be with.

I just found out about Marybeth passing. I met her at the airport in Toronto on the way to Gally in June 1975.  I have visited her parents and two sisters.  She had taught me how to waterski one summer.  We had blast at Gally and at her parent's home   We will miss her wonderful smile. I just learned today of Marybeth's passing & send my condolences. I had the pleasure of knowing her during my final two years of High School, i.e. Ontario Ladies College. Although I lost contact with her after graduation, I never forgot 'Blonde Afro'. She always was upbeat & full of life & laughter...& she was the best dancer ever! I am so sorry for your loss.

I was deeply saddened to find out that May Beth had passed. I knew her from her days at Ontario Ladies College in Whitby. She was a tremendous athlete and wonderful person. Funny and relentless on the court but always fair and willing to help anyone. She was respected and loved by all who had the fortune to meet her. She will be well remembered at a reunion in Aug 2013, which we hoping that she would attend. She will be with us in spirit.Mary Beth is remembered forever on the walls of the school, winning the highest award for Athletics. Had there been one for strength of character, she would have won that as well. Mary Davies

I was saddened to know about Marybeth's passing ... I have just one memory of her ... I met her at Miss Deaf Ontario 1986 -- I was Miss Deaf Kingston while she was a head judge.  After the competition, she approached me and said that I did a great job as I was the only contestant who did not go to any Deaf schools.  I loved how she appreciated me. Her personality was so friendly and outgoing that I did not forget her.  My condolences to Chris, her family and friends.

I have just learned of Marybeth's death and I was asked if I remembered her. Of course, I remember her! I taught her in grade 6 at Hampstead School about 45 years ago. She was bright, intelligent, good natured, kind, gentle, considerate, a joy to teach. I can still feel her gentle pokes on the shoulder as she reminded me to face the class as I spoke and not the blackboard- a lesson I learned and still practice today. Although we did not keep in touch after that year, I have not, and will never forget her. Reading the memories, I can see that she continued to be the outstanding individual she was as a child.

I looked at the picture of Mary Beth and it brought back many memories of our Hampstead School days. I remember Mary Beth as being a great athlete and having a super smile. I knew Marybeth from Hampstead school nearly a lifetime ago. Almost 50 years ago. I will always remember her friendly smile. For the past few years with the internet I have been getting in touch with old friends from school days. I thought of Marybeth on numerous occasions, and was looking many times for her, along with other friends from school. I am saddened to have found out about her passing. I will always remember her. I know this because all these years have passed and I never forgot Marybeth. She must have touched so many lives. I was lucky to have known her in those beginning years of hers. My condolences goes out to her family. I know she will be missed by many.

Marybeth was a good friend of mine at Hampstead Elementary school. We had lots of fun beating the boys at sports on the field and skating together at the park. I have tried to find her over the years, wish I could have known her. She was a remarkable young girl and I am sure an even more remarkable woman.

I am an old school mate of Mary Beth's, from Montreal, Elementary school in fact. Even after so many years I have often thought of her and her wonderful abilities, including her skating. I still remember the beautiful routine she did at our local park during the annual christmas winter festival. As a filmmaker I have been inspired by this and would like include such a performance in my upcoming movie, dedicated to Mary Beth.

It is with a very heavy heart that today I went on the internet once again trying to find my  sweet childhood friend Marybeth and I see this obituary. My heartfelt deepest sympathy to her entire family. I will treasure our childhood memories growing up in Hampstead. Her mom's banana bread was the best after school as well as the fabulous weekends at the cottage spent swimming, boating and consuming a great deal of popcorn. My dog Nanny was a pup from her dog Missy. I know that Marybeth will be missed by so many and the lives she touched. Heaven has a true angel.

I am a former student from the Montreal Oral School. I graduated from there in 1962 and went back to my hometown in Brownsburg PQ. I do remember MaryBeth and I am so sorry to learn of her passing. I havent seen Marybeth since school days but Ive often thought of her and wonder how she was and where she was and hoped that she was happy and doing well. 
I remember Marybeth as a bubbly happy little girl with blonde curly hair . I do remember also hearing she had won some figure skating awards too. Over the years Ive often thought of her and wondered if I might meet her again someday. I remember my parents telling me they once met Marybeths parents at a parents night at the Oral school and knew she grew up on a farm ( as my mother did too). Years later my sister in laws sister ( who also died a few years ago from cancer )said she had met someone with surname Hunter who knew MaryBeth who was also from around Smith Falls. 
Im so sorry to hear of Marys passing. I hope you can find comfort in the memories of the years when she was with you all. I also find comfort too, from  from reading Gods word (The Bible )and especially John 14. in the Bible. I hope it can be of comfort to you also

I am lost at words!  MaryBeth was an angel sent to Gallaudet.  She made everyone feel comfortable (regardless of race, disabilities or sexual orientation).  She loves everyone and made any one feel comfortable.

Sorry for your loss, Chris. Marybeth and i were one of the oral group at gallaudet and we took signing class together and had good laughs!! we were roommates for a year and will always remember her silly laughs and pleasant smile.  She is your angel now!

Chris and family, I am sorry for your  loss.  Marybeth was very supportive of the deaf community.  I will never forget the times Marybeth, Barb Meecher and Jimmy Gibson and I went out in Collingwood. I enjoyed going out with Nancy Dye, Marybeth and Chris to the Greek restaurant in Toronto.  I miss her and I will remember all the fun times we had together.

My thoughts are with you Chris and family.  I know this is a very difficult time, I hope that you will share your great memories with each other.  Marybeth will be missed by everyone she met but I will hold on to her smile forever!

I was Marybeth's first teacher when her Mom came to Montreal. I loved her from the first time I saw her. She was affectionate, fun loving, fiesty and so keen to learn & do her very best. I knew Marybeth from Barrie where she used to work with Peggy North-Harris at HHI back in the 90's.  She was a wonderful warm person with her lovely sunny disposition. Marybeth was my roommate at Gallaudet.  I have many fond memories of that year.  She had a wonderful smile and a fun sense of humor.  My sympathies to her partner and her family.

I first met Marybeth when we were at Lester Pearson International Airport in June 1975, prior to boarding for a same flight to Washington, DC, along with the other deaf Ontarians.  She was a non-signer at that time, but she got absorbed into a densely signing community on campus, in no time!  Certainly it was good to chat with her, as well.  Sorry for your loss, Chris. Marybeth is being missed sorely and I have many great memories of her from Gally days. We had our fun nicknames as hers was Bozo and my was Lesmile. We had a lot of laughs in one class for a whole semester that we couldn't even stop! We had a special friendship bond for many years. I respected her very much and she had a beautiful personality. May she not suffer any more and rest in peace. I want to thank Chris for being with her all the way and my sympathy goes to you and the family.

Marybeth was a joy to be with.  I met her at Gallaudet and remained friends since.  As a frequent guest at her cottage, she taught me how to waterski with creative and technical ways.  She was involved with the Deaf community and a great volunteer for the Ontario Cultural Society of the Deaf and the ECDrury School for the Deaf related with the community events (when I asked for her assistance, she accepted without question) such as a head judge for the Miss Deaf Ontario, ASL Literature Week and other plays.  She was a fun bridesmaid for my wedding years back.  We continued keep in contact. I miss you, MB very much.  Thank you, Chris for taking care of Marybeth with tender love.  May God look after you.
