Olga was a pillar of strength, bravery, resilience, love and unyielding positivity. She lived a dignified life. She passed away on May 13, 2025. Born on July 27, 1933 in Berhomet, Ukraine, she was known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.
She had a hard life living in communist Romania, but her last 30 years spent in Canada having her daughter Simona, grandson Christopher and her son in law Roberto and his family by her side gave her the best years ever. Olga was predeceased by her infant son Octavian.
Her legacy was generosity. Even with little to spare, Olga continued to give and help others. Even when sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for everybody around her more than she did for herself. She was always the first one to call and see how are you doing, made a plate of food for her neighbours or brought them groceries when they were in need.
She provided comfort and solace while asking little in return.
But her voice was what captivated a lot of hearts. Singing in the church was her biggest love until her last breath. Her voice was untamed, a voice that was consistent, unwavering, and perhaps even a symbol of resilience and love for God. She sang beautifully even in her last days in the Waterloo Hospice to show the nurses and the staff how grateful she was for their wonderful care.
My mom will be forever missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken but she was one of a kind and to be loved by her, was to be truly blessed.
A funeral service will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener on Thursday, May 15th at 1:30 pm. Burial at Williamsburg Cemetery (1541 Fischer Hallman Rd), followed by a reception back at Westmount Memorial. *PLEASE NOTE* Due to construction in the area, access to Westmount is right beside the Tim Horton's entrance on Westmount Road.
At the request of the family and from Olga herself, donating to Hospice Waterloo in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated. https://www.hospicewaterloo.ca/.
