

Paraschiva (Cevi/Jenny) was born in the Frasari, Cadrilater, Romania and moved to Canada in 1989. She had deep reverence for education, having studied at the University of Bucharest in the Faculty of Philosophy, specializing in the Romanian and French language
Beloved wife of the late Ion “John” Vasilescu (2021) for 56 years.
Adored by her nieces and nephews: Atena Elena, Christina Vasilica, Thomas Emmanuel Ichim, Christine Victoria Ichim (Terry Hogue), Julian Theodore Ichim, Gloria Elizabeth Ichim, Christopher Elliot Ichim (Natasha), Matthew Anthony Ichim (Melissa), Adela Victoria Batu Korshin (Nick Korshin)
Devoted great aunt of Raihanna Ichim Oheil, Terra, Tony, Patrick and Tiffany Ichim, Rholand and Avelina Korshin.
Fondly remembered by in-laws Rev. Dumitru Ichim and Lucia Batu.
Predeceased by Husband Ion Vasilescu, Parents Themistocle and Victoria Batu (Pana), and sibling Marica, Florica, Petre, Mihai, Elisabeta and Toma.
She loved and was loved by children of all ages being a beloved French/Romanian teacher and adored by her numerous nieces and nephews. She was gentle and compassionate, and held a deep love for animals. She was also a dutiful nurse a teacher as well as a writer of stories, poetry, and prose, publishing the book Dobandind din tainele lumii (Povestiri si Impresii) in 2011. Her poetry and prose has appeared in many publications including numerous volumes of the anthology Poetry Institute of Canada, Victoria, BC.
She was a warm woman who was loved by all, and held a deep appreciation of the music, literature, writing, cooking and loved hiking in the Carpathian Mountains with her husband. She was a devoted patron of culture and will be deeply missed for the keen, loving wisdom she gathered over a lifetime; her family will especially miss her clear-sighted guidance and tender words of advice.
Cevi/Jenny’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Monday, January 26, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., with Father John Maerean officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
