Uncle Ray you were a calm and strong presence.

Dear Uncle Ray, there are so many wonderful memories over the years that are etched in my mind forever. I'll always remember helping you at the old Kitchener Market on Duke Street as a very young boy, making wrong change for customers and you fixing it up for me. And the many Christmas Eve's that were spent together - early ones at mom and dad's house and then later on at mine and Donna's house, and Christmas Day turkey dinners at either the farm or my parents house. So many fond, precious memories, never to be forgotten.
It was truly an honour to have had you as my godparent all my life. That choice could not have been better.
You will fondly be remembered and always have a place in our hearts.
Rest well.

My dog Prince and I visited Raymond on Monday evenings at Fairview through Saint Johns Ambulance Therapy dog visiting program. He spoke about his family farm and his wife often. He liked to offer treats to Prince and it was a highlight for us to stop and visit with him. We will miss his sense of humor and conversation.

Life is about memories... Uncle Ray, you touched so many people with your gentle, kind ways.  When I told the boys that you had peacefully slipped away they said, at least we got to know him and will always remember him trying to send us home with kittens!  You will be remembered with fondness always.

Dear Ray,

We will miss those blue eyes and smile, especially when you would greet us, or anyone that would come to the farm for a good potato deal. What a real man you are, a man that put his back into his living and worked as hard as the summer days were long. A warm heartfelt wish to you as the honest, light-hearted and family-loving man that you presented to all of us, as we were growing up. You are a true example of what it is to be a real man and that's just another reason why we loved you.

Rest in peace, dear Ray. You deserve nothing less.

How do you honor a great man and properly say goodbye. All the memories and love come crowding in at once, without a break. You are an Uncle, a hero, and a mentor of how I want to treat and respect all people. Yep, your the man. You set a great example. There are not enough words to convey the love you gave to all of us, your family.....  It is an honor to be your niece. For me it was always the love and support you gave to me while Jodie was in Sunnyside. You always asked about him and gave me the hug I needed to get through a tough time. Thank you for the week you give me every year at Sandpebble in Florida.  That is eternal, my week of sunshine.... thank you for Desiray  (Desi) the ferel cat I captured from the farm. I have a piece of the farm with me every day. My beautiful blind cat. But mostly for all the love you gave, Uncle Ray. You always listened to my corny stories and your belly laugh will stay with me forever. All your big hugs made my day, and your stay at fairview more precious. I love you dearly. I always told you, you are my fairy godfather... I've learned in this life, the internal heart is much stronger than the physical heart. I wish I could have spoke with you one last time. You were at peace though and didn't want to be awaken. We will miss you dearly and cherish the many chuckles we shared together. You were a great friend and neighbour. Rest in peace Ray!

We are so sad to be away at this time of sorrow. On our journey home to be at your side, we reflect on numerous memories of happy times together, both on the farm and during our many road trips and vacations. We'll always remember the "twinkle in your eyes" as we travelled to new destinations and shared so many fantastic experiences. This, your last trip Uncle Ray, is to the most beautiful destination of all. Until we meet again.....we love you lots!   Brian and Lynn
