Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elisabeth Schulz (née Deutschmann), daughter Heidi Fraser, son-in-law Michael Fraser and sister Gertrud Schulz (in Germany). He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Hulda Schulz (nee Gust) and his sister Herta Schroeter.
As a young man, Richard had a wandering spirit, traveling the world. After a few years in Australia, he came to Canada in the sixties, looking to put down roots. His strong work ethic and self-determination lead him on an occupational path which began with his certification as a sheet metal worker and plumber, to becoming a landlord and land developer. The professional venture he was most proud of was purchasing and building Holiday Beach Campground.
Richard retired to the Hanover area where he lived a quiet life on his hobby farms and enjoyed the surrounding nature, which was his biggest passion. Recently he returned to K-W to be closer to family.
Cremation has taken place and a private time of remembrance will be held by the family at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to either of the following charities, which help protect the birds, bees, and forests he loved…
