She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt. She is survived by her devoted son Anthony R. Braun of London who was at her side to the very end. She was predeceased by her sons Frank A. Braun Jr. (2016), John P. Braun (2003), her parents Roland and Ida St. Louis and her many loved Boston Terriers through her life. She will be missed by her grandchildren (Anthony’s) David (Niagara), Connor (London), Meggie (London), Jack (Niagara), and (Frank Jr.’s) Kyla and (Elliott Burke of Port Elgin), Jared (Walkerton), Zach and (Maison Trussler of Kitchener), Great Grandson Sebastian and his mother Brianna MacQuarrie (Walkerton). She was the mother-in-law to Joanna Nethercott (Kevin) of Listowel and Jessica Braun of Niagara. Suzanne was the aunt to Nancy Curran and family (Ottawa) and Marianne Bayer and Tim Trotter (Amberley). Mother was very appreciative of the care and support she received from her family over the decades. In return, there was nothing she would not do for her boys for as she stated “because they are my sons”.
Suzanne was born in Montreal, Quebec. Suzanne’s father, Roland was an RCMP Officer and a Brinks Armoury Guard, and her Mother Ida was an Elizabeth Arden Sales Manager. This resulted in the family moving several times during Suzanne’s early school years. The family finally settled in Kitchener and she attended St. Mary’s High School and then the Notre Dame Academy in Waterdown. She aspired to be a nurse and achieved top marks, but unfortunately due to health issues, had to withdraw from the programme. Eventually her parents semi-retired and they decided to delve into the Restaurant Business. They owned and opened the famous “Lighthouse Drive in Curb Service” on Victoria Street, Kitchener (where now stands the Canadian Tire). In her late teens and early twenties Suzanne became the car hop on roller skates with the first famous Boston Terrier “Patches”. A decade later, as mother of her 3 Boys and the years following a multitude of Boston terriers (lastly Tonka 2022), they became her everything. She was an avid music and opera buff and also enjoyed watching figure skating events. She had great memories of attending a Three Tenors concert in Toronto and also a Stars on Ice show. She loved make-up (rarely seen without it!) and fashion. She frugally saved to afford rewards of a monthly hairdo and new outfits!
Suzanne’s family wishes to thank the staff at LHSC University Campus Acute Stroke Unit 7th Floor for their compassionate end-of-life care she received. We are so grateful for the 83 years we had Mom given all her health struggles and losses over her lifetime. A truly remarkable woman.
