Barry Glenn Nazworth, a man of profound faith and boundless love, peacefully entered into the Lord's presence on October 8, 2025, at the age of 67, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Born on March 8, 1958, in Sweetwater, Texas, Barry was a beacon of light and hope to all who knew him, embodying the Christian values he held so dear.
Barry was preceded in the passing of his beloved parents, Louise M. Hester Nazworth and William Henry Nazworth, his brothers Calvin Ray Nazworth, Roy Mack Nazworth, John William Nazworth, Darrell Henry Nazworth, and his sister Mary Ann Hancock. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his surviving family members, including his brother Terry Lee Nazworth and wife Suzanne of Sweetwater, TX, his sister Kathy Diane and husband Ben Monroe of Sweetwater, TX, his brother Gary Lynn Nazworth and wife Kathy Marie of San Antonio, TX, his children, Randall Scott Nazworth, Kari Renee Nazworth, and John Dustin Knox. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A proud graduate of Sweetwater High School, class of 1976, Barry continued his education with fervor, always seeking to expand his knowledge and understanding. His passion for learning was matched only by his commitment to his Christian faith. Barry's love for singing and playing guitar was a testament to his joyous spirit, and his dedication to bible study and ministering to others was evident in his daily life. Known for his habit of handing out gospel tracts everywhere he went and his Sunday spiritual text messages to family members far and wide, Barry's ministry reached beyond the confines of his local community.
Barry's love for cooking and baking was legendary; his homemade salsa and honey were staples at vendor fairs, and his gardening skills were admired by all who had the pleasure of tasting the fruits of his labor. He was a man of many talents and interests, including recreational gold panning and camping, which took him on adventures across the country. As a past president of the West Georgia Dredgers Prospecting Club of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, Barry shared his enthusiasm for the great outdoors with many.
Barry's life was a reflection of the words of the Apostle Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). His faith-filled, passionate, and thoughtful nature was a source of inspiration. He often shared his favorite quote, "If I don't see you here or there, I will see you in the air," reminding us all of the eternal reunion that awaits in heaven.
Today, we celebrate Barry Glenn Nazworth, a man whose heart was as big as his smile, and whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched. We take solace in knowing that Barry is now singing with the angels, forever in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sweetwater, 1311 McCauley Street, Sweetwater, TX 79556 with his sister, Rev. Kathy Monroe officiating on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
