So so sorry to hear of Mr Jaco’s  passing.  

I’ll always remember him  mowing his yard.

Ben was a good friend, a good biologist and a good boss.  There were good times with field work and fish fries.  And, there were hard times with budget cuts and controversies.  He stood with us through it all.  We will always remember Ben.

Mrs. Libba, I know none of us can live forever, but though he was 98, I can honestly say I was shocked at your husband’s passing. I’ve been your mailman for over a decade. I’ve watched your husband keeping the subdivision grounds, mowing your lawn, battling leaves, and running the roads during most of that time until the last year or so. I then thought to myself, WOW, it’s about time Mr. Jaco slowed down a little! He makes the rest of us look lazy! 🤣 Your husband was a Superman! I so admired his work ethic, his strong sense of community, and his devotion to his bride. We lost a good one! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Try to focus on the cherished memories and relive the smiles of a life well lived together. God bless-Beverly, your postal lady

Ben Jaco was a fine gentleman!  He was my neighbor and served his neighbors in countless ways!  He helped revise our by-laws and covenants.  He planted beautiful flowers and mowed our entrance for years as a volunteer.  He served the community in many ways through his church and the Fountain City Ministry Center.  He will be greatly missed by the FC community.  He served others so very well.

Ben was a true southern gentleman and an important mentor for me while he worked for TVA.  I still cherish the native pearl tie-tack he gave me when I completed my Ph.D.  His sudden, unannounced retirement from TVA was a classic example of his commitment to take the high road, even when the environment may be hostile or toxic.  
   I’m glad he had a long and productive retirement.  I only wish I had made the effort to tell him how much I respected him and his approach to TVA’s role in dealing with people and managing the aquatic resources of the Valley.

What a blessed life he had, he loved his family, church, and his dear Ms Jaco.  He was a true southern gentleman.   My prayers are with you all.  Kelly (Summers) Dixon.

I was privileged to meet Ben over ten years ago when I came across his morning coffee group. Ben was kind, articulate, humble, and always offered an interesting perspective. Slowly, over time we became aware of his fascinating life.  Even when he became homebound he continued to reach out to us. My condolences to his family but few people have gotten more out of life than Ben.

Ben was kind, friendly, and talented.  Over the years, I met many people who worked with him in his years at the TVA.  I heard nothing but raves. (e.g., "He was the best boss I ever had.")

After retiring, he received a gardening certificate from UT.  He employed those skills to maintaining and beautifying the "triangles" within the neighborhood.  It was but one way he embodied his commitment to folks here.

He will be missed.

The one "story."  He was befuddled that we named our rescue Great Pyrenees "Finnegan."  "Why," he inquired, "given a French dog an Irish name? This upset his linguistic applecart.

Ben was always such a nice person. From the first time I meet him at Smithwood drug store to every time I saw him around Fountain City. His warm smile and friendliness never changed. He always was happy to visit and always asked about my husband. He was a fine man!! May you find strength and peace in all your wonderful memories!

He will be missed at the barber shop coming to get his haircut. Was a good customer for many years. Praying for the family!

We are saddened to hear of Ben's passing.  Ben was Clovis' first supervisor  in the Fish and Wildlife section of TVA.  We send our condolences to the family.

It was a blessing to know Ben.  He was a faithful member of our Sunday school class and a teacher when there was a need. He was always kind and kept our flower bed at church filled with seasonal ,flowers.  I respected him and the way he loved Libba and his entire family.

We are so very sorry for all . He was a wonderful person, He will be missed our love to all the family.

Our world has lost a great man. He was an inspiration to us all, a Christian who loved God and his fellow humans and was the hands and feet of Jesus. Ben will be missed by so many.
