

Charles Martin "Marty" Johnson, Jr. went to his Heavenly Home on May 27, 2026, at the age of 66, and was a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Powell. Marty attended Western Carolina University earning a BS in Geology and MS in Chemistry. He had over 35 years experience in radiochemical analysis, research and development, and lab management. Marty received several awards and honors in his field including, a R&D 100 Award in 2010 and the RRMC (Radiobioassay & Radiochemical Measurements Conference) Founders Award in 2014.
Marty was a Senior Radiochemist at SAIC in Oak Ridge, TN; US Air Force at Brooks City- Base, TX (civilian); US Army at Redstone Arsenal, AL (civilian); and LEIDOS in Oak Ridge, TN.
Marty was a wonderful husband and amazing father. He encouraged his kids in academics, dance and music, and coached or assisted in their sports. Marty loved watching them play and perform in all their activities. He loved Clemson and the Cincinnati Reds. Marty was a man of honesty and integrity who loved his job, loved and served in the church, and above all... loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with Whom he now rests.
Marty was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Barbara Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sherri Johnson; children, Bethany, Moriah, Jordan, Joshua, Stephen, Benjamin, and special son by love, Blake; grandchildren, Elliana, Eden, Nicolas, Charlie, Maverick, Mateo, Sophia, Ada-Mae, and special grandson by love, Jace; siblings, Sandy, Chris, and Wendy; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Saturday, May 30th from 11am-1pm at First Baptist Church of Powell, 7706 Ewing Rd, Powell, TN 37849, with Funeral Service at 1pm. A Committal Service will immediately take place following services at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Dr, Knoxville, TN 37918. Pastor Perry Garrett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marty's honor to First Baptist Church of Powell, 7706 Ewing Rd, Powell, TN 37849.
