David Eugene Freshour was born March 25, 1948 in Knoxville,TN and passed away after a courageous and grueling battle with lung cancer at his home surrounded by those he loved on November 28th at 11:57 pm. He was the son of the late JV & Bertha Freshour. Brother to Larry (Carolyn) Freshour, Sarah Doyle (Robert Apley), and the late Susie (Steve) Loope. He was father to Chris (Paige) Freshour, Rachel (Mark) Watson, and the late Matthew Freshour. He leaves behind grandchildren: Drew, Reese, & Ivy Freshour and Josh (Suzanne), Jayden & Jordan Watson as well as many precious (great) nieces and (great) nephews. There was also a special place in his heart for Sandy McCroskey, with whom he shared his life & many wonderful years until the very end.
David was a world traveler, working in several Middle Eastern countries and vacationing in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. He also lived and worked throughout the US including Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, California, and Utah. Although he explored the world during his lifetime, his heart was always in Knoxville, home to his family & beloved University of Tennessee Volunteers. David could often be found riding the roads of East Tennessee or the Smoky Mountains on one of his Harley Davidsons or in his 1978 25th anniversary Corvette. He truly loved being surrounded by God's creation, whether it be camping on Norris Lake (Island F to be exact), hiking and riding horseback in the mountains or working in his yard and vegetable garden. He cherished time with his family, lifelong friends, and riding buddies. David will be missed by so many but his love for life and example of his Christian faith will live on in the hearts of all those that knew him.
David requested there only be a private family memorial at his house. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating online or in person to the Children's Playground Fund at Buffat Heights Baptist Church. https://www.buffatheights.org/give/
