

Moore, Dixie Loretta Hamilton, age 81, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 due to complications from Alzheimer disease. She retired from TVA as a draftsperson in the 1980’s and worked at the South Central Bell Telephone Company in the 1950’s. Loretta was a beloved member of the Inskip community where she was remembered as playing softball as a teenager and singing in school choirs. She graduated in 1948 from Central High School. Mrs. Moore was always singing and had sung for many weddings and events from California to Tennessee. She never met a stranger. She loved gardening. She loved Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols and was loved by her Bookwalter Family. She adored her granddaughter, Hannah, and was always there for her as her “Nannie”, in fact, when her granddaughter’s friends were around she was known as “Nannie” to all. There wasn’t a day that didn’t go by that she didn’t talk about at least one or two of her family members, as she loved them all so much, especially her nieces, Joy Nored and Karen Hamilton.Loretta’s daughter, Amanda has lost her best friends.Preceeded in death by her husband Howard L. Moore and parents Denver and Ella Hamilton, brother Kelso Hamilton.
Survivors include daughter, Amanda D. Moore; granddaughter, Hannah K. Kingsbury; brother and sister- in- law, Stanley and Joyce Hamilton; sisters-in-law Jane Carol Hamilton and Elizabeth Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Bookwalter United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. David Lord officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for a 11:00 a.m. graveside at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Friends may leave their condolences at www.lynnhurstchapel.com
