Doris M Houser

Doris Marie McFarland Houser, age 88, passed away July 19, 2017, in Nashville, TN. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harrison Barton Houser, and their three children, Donna (Steve) Harrison, Carol (Bob) Schreiber and James Edward Houser. She loved her three granddaughters, Rachel (Brandon) Parker, April (George) Khoury, and Jessica (Scott) Eiselt, and her five great granddaughters, Layne, Hannah, and Emily Parker, Lyla Khoury, and Nora Eislet. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Rhea and Edward Jeremiah McFarland, and her three brothers, Clifford, Charles and Rhea McFarland. She was born April 11, 1929, in Knoxville and lived there until she moved to Nashville in 2012 to be close to family. She graduated from Central High School and Knoxville Business College. She was an active volunteer in both Knox County Schools and her churches, Inskip Baptist Church and later, Meridian Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching children, traveling with her husband and friends, and family gatherings. She provided and loved well. “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 11:00 AM until noon in the chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at noon with Rev.
