Elliott, Dorothy Lynn Craig, passed away at the age of 89 on April 28, 2015. She is preceded in death by parents, Albert and Ethel Craig; baby brother, Jackie; husband, James Richard Elliott; and infant daughter, Victoria Gail. She was a long term member of Burlington United Methodist Church. We all miss its warm family atmosphere. Later, she transferred to Washington Pike United Methodist Church where she played piano for her Sunday school class and enjoyed spirited discussions with them until she could no longer attend. Dorothy “Dot” Elliott spent years with TVA and maintained close ties with friends there for many years. Books were always a big part of her life and she cherished her Knox Public Library card. She loved music and played the piano with great gusto. She also painted beautiful watercolors and enjoyed gardening. Highly competitive, she loved to play and win at Scrabble and card games. She was a tireless, energetic, and endless source of help to her daughters who were all lucky to have close relationships with her as adults. When her grandchildren arrived, she relished spending time with them and considered those years to be some of her happiest. Three other daughters remain, Jannean Lynn Elliott, Suzanne Craig Rule, and Katrina Elliott DeBusk as well as sons-in-law, James R. Rule II and Daniel DeBusk. She loved being “Mimi” to her three grandchildren, David James DeBusk (25), James Craig Rule (23), and Joylynn Nanying Elliott (20). She was fortunate to have good neighbors and was blessed to call Helen Lane (deceased) a close family friend as well. The family appreciates the care and support given her by current neighbors, Berta, Scott, and Henry, as well as Terry. We would also like to thank the staff of the North Knoxville Branch library who were so good to her. Finally, helping her through her last days was an incredibly caring staff at Beverly Park Place Nursing Facility. We are secure in her Christian beliefs. We will miss her terribly but know we will see her again. Until then, she will live on in our hearts. Family and friends will meet on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 1 pm for the graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Jim Bailes officiating. Condolences may be offered at www.berrylynnhurst.com
