

Meador, Everett Daniel –age 97 of Knoxville passed away on Sunday morning December 19, 2010. He was a member of St Luke’s United Methodist Church and former member of Burlington United Methodist Church. He was retired from Southern Railway with 43 years service. He was member and local chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. After retirement, he operated Southern Locomotive #1401 at the Knoxville Zoological Park. Graduated from Hiawassee College in 1934. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer and enjoyed traveling . He was a devoted Christian and a loving family man. He was preceded in death by parents, Daniel Vernon and Helen Josephine Sargent Meador; step-mother, Maude Blankenship Meador; first wife, Sarah Ruth Chandler Meador; 4 sisters; 1 brother; son-in-law, Randy Pickel and step-son, Ronnie Rhodes. Survived by wife, Mildred Rhodes Meador; son and daughter-in-law, Everett D. (Danny) Jr. and wife Nancy Mohr Meador; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and husband Jack Campbell; daughter , Ginny Pickel; step-children, Marsha Claytor and husband Jimmy; Bill Rhodes; step-daughter-in-law, Pam Rhodes; grandchildren, Everett D. (Rett) Meador III, Steve Campbell, Bobby and wife Gwen Campbell, Scott and wife Kasey Campbell, Jessica and husband Brian Witt, Trevor and wife Emily Pickel; great grandchildren, Sarah, Sawyer and Silas Campbell; Maggie and Anna Campbell, Hattie Campbell, Eden Fugate; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to caregivers, Kathy Roberts, Connie Boheler, Maggie Benzinger, Filipp and Luda Gashchemko. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 7:00 pm at St Luke’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm prior to the service. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery for the interment.
