Gaye Beeler Mathis “Noo Noo”, age 88, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 30, 2026. Saved at an early age, Gaye began teaching Sunday School at 16 and continued to teach for most of her adult life. She was a long-term member of Union Baptist Church and a member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
She was owner of “The Clothes House” where she presented “Fashion through the Ages” a “walking museum” of fashion history for churches, clubs, and civic organizations. Additionally, Gaye co-owned Beeler’s Antiques for many years.
Gaye is survived by husband Gene Mathis; children Gary (Donita) Beeler, Angie Boles, Barry Beeler, and Victor (Delana) Beeler; grandchildren Hannah (Brad) Yearout, Bradley Beeler, Weston (Olivia) Winn, Leanna Beeler, Ashlynn Beeler, Joshua Beeler and Justin Beeler; great-grandchildren Boone Yearout and Micah Wilkins. She also had an amazing group of friends who kept in touch throughout this time, with several attending her 88th birthday party on March 10.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care she received during this time. A special “thank you” to Haley and Jenni (just to name a few) who went above and beyond.
The family is also grateful for the wonderful care she received at South High Senior Living. The nursing staff were so kind and compassionate, and we sincerely thank each of them for loving our precious mom and Gene.
Many thanks to the sitters who provided wonderful care and friendship.
We are beyond grateful for God’s mercy and grace during this time.
Finally, thank you to all the wonderful friends who stopped by to check on her, phone calls, texts and a host of friends who prayed for her and the family each day.
The family welcomes friends to a Visitation at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 12pm-2pm, with a Celebration of Life at 2pm and a Graveside Service to follow.
