

Joan Ward, born August 30, 1949 passed away on February 13, 2018. She was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt and a good friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Inskip Baptist Church. Joan built their original house 40 years ago and redesigned and rebuilt 5 years ago. She built seven homes in the Knoxville area. She was an executive secretary, private investigator of 6 years and owned Investigation Service of East Tennessee (ISET). She was a paralegal for Aurthur Seymour and was a real estate agent with Remax Realtors. She was on the board of directors for the Knoxville Arts Council, Knox Heritage and Laurel Place Home Owners Association and was an active member of the Republican Party in Knoxville. Preceded in death by father and mother, Boyd Shelton and Daisy (Miller) Collins. Survivors include husband of 40 years, James (Jim) Ward; stepson, David Ward and family; sisters, Elaine Witt, and Sandra Gideon. Joan was an active and valued member of the Fountain City Community, contributing her time and energies to Knoxville Heritage and the Fountain City Art Guild. Joan will be remembered for her humor, her love of animals, including her late Chilhuahuas, Chi Chi and Patches and her cat, K.C. Joan was a talented water color artist, with an example of her work being published nationally and she loved to paint in her Fountain City home. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 2 – 4 pm with the funeral service to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. Pastor Mike Segers will be officiating.
