

Linnie Garren, age 93, of Knoxville, went to be with her Savior on Friday, September 18, 2015, at West Hills Health and Rehab, surrounded by her family. Linnie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and soon to be great-great grandmother. She was a charter member and faithful attender at Olivet Baptist Church for 58 years. She enjoyed taking care of her family and serving in her church. She was employed for 30 years at Levi Strauss, where she retired in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Homer Garren; her mother and father, Henry and Georgia (Loving) Thomas; brothers: James, Robert and Eugene Thomas; sisters: Lorine Dietrick, Geneva Simpson, Vera Marks, Dorothy Davidson, Estella Grayson, and Louise Underwood. She is survived by her son Don (Carolyn) Garren and her daughters Charlotte (Wayne) Thomas, Patsy (Larry) Bohanan, and Lucille (Doyle) Smith; sister, Alburda Breeden; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and soon to be great-great grandson, Kingston. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cynthia Pearman and the dedicated staff at West Hills Health and Rehab for the wonderful care received by our mother for the past 19 months. Family will receive friends at Olivet Baptist Church, 4701 Pleasant Ridge Road, Tuesday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. with service at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Johnny Price and Rev. Billy Bell, officiating. Friends and family will meet at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewill Pike, 9:45 a.m. Wednesday for 10:00 a.m. graveside service. Arrangements by Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, Adair Drive, Knoxville.
