Margaret Walker Schantz, age 96 of Knoxville, passed away June 15, 2024. She was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Margaret attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Education. Margaret is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She was a member of Holston Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing golf and duplicate bridge. Margaret was a loving wife to Francis Schantz for 61 years and that love carried over to their children and grandchildren. She was an Educator at Knox County public schools, Happy Hours Kindergarten and Fountain City United Methodist Church pre-school. Preceded in death by parents, Lucille Walker Miller, William Ott Walker, and by husband, Francis W. Schantz. Survived by children, Elizabeth Brown Dixon (Mike) of Rutledge, Lucy Schantz Smith (David) of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Smith of NYC, Hayley (Bret) Huskey of Alcoa, Ames Brown of Knoxville, Lauren Brown of Alcoa; and 7 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday June 26th 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery.
