Margie H. LeCoultre

Margie H. LeCoultre, age 87, of Powell, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025. In 1955, Margie married the love of her life, David George LeCoultre. Both David and Margie were longtime members of Cumberland Baptist Church, placing membership in 1967. Margie received her Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from University of Tennessee in 1979. Margie was a dedicated educational professional for 54 years. Margie began her career teaching at Lincoln Elementary School in Kingsport, TN and also at West Haven Elementary School in Knoxville, TN. Over the course of her tenure, she was proud to serve as principal of Giffin Elementary School, Alice Bell Elementary School, Cedar Bluff Intermediate School and Ridgedale Elementary School, all of Knoxville, TN. Margie received multiple awards including Knoxville area Chamber of Commerce Best Award twice, Leadership Education Class of 1991 and Leadership Knoxville 1998, as well as various other awards. She co-developed the 5th Year Intern Individualized Instruction Model for the University of Tennessee Teacher Education, 1994-2000. Margie also was Supervisor of the Pre-Intern and Intern Program for UT students at Ridgedale Elementary Professional Development School, 1995-2000.

Margie and David had the benefit of traveling and was pleased to have completed their trip to all 50 states. They traveled many times to Europe and was fortunate to spend time with David's Swiss family in Switzerland.

Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband, David LeCoultre; parents, Gilbert and Cora Humphrey; daughter, Laura Deanne LeCoultre Lawson. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Jackie) Reed; son-in-law, Don Lawson; grandchildren, Cody (Kynzie) Reed, Bryson Reed, Dean (Shelby) Lawson, Heather Lawson; great grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Lawson, Adrian, MacKynlee, and Oakleigh Lawson; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 27th from 1:00pm - 2:30pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with graveside service immediately following at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Kent Williams and Dr. Chad Crawford officiating with eulogy by Mr. Dick Sampsel. Pallbearers to include: Jackie Reed, Bryson Reed, Cody Reed, Mike Franklin, and Mike LeCoultre. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Margie's name to the Knox County Retired Teachers Association, C/O Lexa Hooten, 711 N. Hall of Fame Drive, Knoxville, TN 37917.
