Mary F. Stamps

Mary Rebecca Freeman Stamps left this world to be with Jesus on January 14, 2024 after a long, healthy, active life of over 99 years. She was greeted in heaven by her precious husband, Paul T. Stamps; her oldest son, Tom Stamps; her great grandson, Andrew Lorie; her parents, William Earl and Nell Freeman; her sister, Fay Ellenburg and brother, Lynn Freeman. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 29, 1924, she spent the majority of her life living in Fountain City raising her five wonderful children. She leaves behind Polly (David) Anderson, Mike (Janice) Stamps, Anne (Bob) Hurley, and Karen (Bobby Joe) Atchley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul (Stephanie) Anderson, Michelle (Danny) Carter, Chris (Leslie) Anderson, Kristin (Chuck) Nalley, Lee Anne (Orlando) Lorie, Rachel Hurley, Erech (Jennifer) Atchley, and Micah Atchley; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was lovingly cared for in the last 14 months by family and special neighbor and friend, Sharon Byrge. Her friends and church family at Salem Baptist Church were always a very important part of her life.

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, there will be a Receiving of Friends from 5 PM - 7 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Drive. Graveside Service will be 11 AM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church, Acts 4 Fund, 8201 Hill Road, Knoxville, TN 37938.
