Opal Marie (Bishop) Cooper, age 90, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away with her family by her side on Friday, July 18, 2025. She was born in Virginia on November 29, 1934 and moved to Tennessee as a child. Opal was of the Baptist faith. She worked many years at Palm Beach Mill Outlet. She enjoyed working from sunup to sundown tending her gardens, canning, and preparing meals for her family. Opal loved working puzzles and cross-stitching. She had a knack for interior design and a natural talent for making the "old look new" again. Each year she looked forward to displaying her beautiful Christmas decorations.
Opal was a proud and loving grandmother to Steven and Matthew and loved sharing her hobbies with them. She will be remembered for her kind spirit and gentle heart.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lissie Bishop; daughter, Angela Kay Corum; husband, Edward Cooper; brothers, Tom, Bill and Lucien Bishop; sister, Kathleen Rhyne; and beloved grandson, Steven Corum. Though deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing they are together again.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Peggy Corum and grandson, Matthew Corum.
A private family service will be held to honor her life at Greenwood Cemetery. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charity of your choice. Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
